DO YOU REALLY KNOW JESUS

DO YOU REALLY KNOW JESUS ?

THIS QUESTION IS ASKED BECAUSE WHEN YOU CALL YOUR SELF A CHRISTIAN YOU SHOULD BE A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST and LIVING YOUR LIFE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PRINCIPLES OF HIS LOVE as EXPRESSED DURING HIS LIFE WITH ALL THOSE ABOUT  HIM

Here are some verses relating to those that say that they want to follow Jesus and what Jesus said to them.

Matthew 16: 24-27      At all times, Jesus said, that if they were going to follow Him that they would have to deny themselves of their own ways and adopt Jesus ways in order for their character to be changed into the similitude of Christ Jesus’ character, our Lord and Saviour.

At all times, we are to put Christ FIRST in our lives, then He will honor us for having honored Him before the eyes and ears of the world around us.

To be a Christian means that we will follow Him no matter where the “road of life” might take us.  In good times and in times of distress or trouble, we are to remember that the Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus, is watching us like a  “mother hen watches her biddies” .  Her  wings covers her family and just so will God cover us with His wings of mercy, as we are found faithful in Him.

In the book-The Triumph of God’s Love by E.G. White we find the following passage: ”  Though the finite minds of men are inadequate to enter into the counsels of the Infinite One, or to understand fully the working out of His purposes, yet often it is because of some error or neglect on their own part that they so dimly comprehend the  messages  of Heaven.  Not infrequently the mind of the people, and even of God’s servants, are so blinded by human opinions, the traditions and false teaching of men, that they are able only partially to grasp the great things which He has revealed in His word.”

Christ Himself had sent them forth with the message: ” The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent ye, and believe the gospel”   Mark 1:15  That message was based on the prophecy of Daniel 9….  They preached the message which Christ had committed to them, though they themselves misapprehended its meaning. …. “

Christ had come at the exact time and in the exact manner foretold by prophecy.  The testimony of Scripture had been fulfilled in every detail of His ministry.  He had preached the message of salvation, and ” His word was with power.”  The hearts of His hearers had witnessed that it was of Heaven.  The word and the Spirit of God attested to the divine commission of His Son.”

Uncertainty and Doubt

The disciples still clung with undying affection to their beloved Master. ”  (Do you cling to the Master with undying affection, even when you do not fully  understand what is happening to you and the attacks that might come into your life because of unknown reasons?)   (But, in this lifetime, we must make a decision to accept Christ as our Saviour, Lord and Master of our life, so that every decision that we make, we too, will ask what would Jesus do under this or that situation.)

DOUBT CHANGED TO CERTAINTY

” What a change was wrought in the hearts of the disciples as they looked once more on the loved countenance of their Master !  Luke 24:32.  In a more complete and perfect sense than ever before they had ” found Him, of whom Moses in the law, and in the  prophets, did write.”  The uncertainty, the anguish, the despair, gave place to perfect assurance, to unclouded faith.  What marvel that after His ascension they ” were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God.”

Have you had doubts ?  Have you come to the place where you really know Jesus?   Well, to know Him is to Love Him.  To love Him is to obey Him according to The Commandments- Exodus 20″ 1-17 and Psalm 119.  All of these verses show us what our responsibility is and what God thinks about us and how we should be looking at His Law of Love.   The Law of  Love -The Commandments- is our mirror of showing us how to relate to God and our Lord Jesus and how we are to relate to our fellow-man.

Finally in Revelation 22:  10-14 we are told”…..And behold, I come quickly: and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. Note, we are not saved by our works, but if we love the Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus, who died that we might live; we will be found doing the works of Jesus in our Life so that when mankind sees us they will in effect be seeing the Christ likeness in us.  We then become reflectors of Christ’s love in all that we say and do among others and Christ’s life is lived out in us through our lives and then as we become more like Him, we too will be transformed into His image of love and kindness to those about us.

Verse 14 says, ” Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have a right ” to the tree of life”  { whereby we too will have the life of our Lord-forever} and may enter in through the gates into the city.”

Revelation 22 concludes on the note of Verse 19-21 in which it says, ”  And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of  the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book…….”

So, then we can really know Jesus, by studying his Word-The Holy Scriptures which say the method of studying the Word.  ” here a little there a little, line upon line, precept upon precept”  In other words, we must study all the scriptures on a particular subject in order for us to get a complete picture of what God’s Word says.   We Must Not Take the Opinions of Men, but only through every word that proceeds from the mouth of God can we find the assurance of doing His will in our life.

To Know Him is to Obey Him, To Love Him is to follow His ways all the days of our life until we see His soon coming in the clouds of glory with all the Holy Angels.  See  1st Thessalonians 4: 13-18

May God Bless each of you in your search for the Truth, as it is, in Jesus who was the substitute for our sins and who suffered the death that we all deserved.  God wants to restore mankind into His Presence, but sin cannot be in the same place as God is.  Therefore, we must lay all our sins of disobedience at the Cross and asked for the forgiveness of the sins of our life and place our life totally into the hands of Jesus who is faithful and will forgive us of our sins, if we will but ask for forgiveness and repent of those things that stand between us and a Holy God.
