THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY!

Have you ever wondered-what does God expect of me?

Let’s examine for a moment what happened and where do we go from here.  Mankind disobeyed God in the garden of Eden and from that point forward it was downhill, all the way.  Now you and I have the same choice to make serve either God or you are automatically deciding to serve the opposite of good and right, and you will be serving Satan and his plans for us, instead of worshiping God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

 God the Father and Jesus, the Son said, in Genesis 3:23,24

3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
3:23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

If God had not evicted mankind from the garden of Eden, sin and disobedience would have been perpetuated forever.

Now that the Tree of Life was removed from the garden of Eden and man no longer had direct access to God and the ability to live forever, as God had originally intended, man was shut out from the direct presence of God because he refused to accept God as the Lord and Director of his life through the power of the Holy Spirit of God.

Man had to go out into the world and by the sweat of his brow he had to bring forth the fruits of the ground with much difficulty.  Man and woman no longer had free face to face access to God, or access to the garden of Eden where plenty and beauty was abundant all around them.  Henceforth, they had to find out a way to survive without the direct assistance of God and the angels.  For now, they had chosen to obey Satan, or as his heavenly name was Lucifer, instead of God.

The process of sin and its full development had begun and continued to increase throughout the last 6,000 years.  Satan’s name is also  called the “prince of the air”. Reference: Ephesians 2:1-10

2:1 And you [hath he quickened], who were dead in trespasses and sins:  { quickened means made alive }
2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to “the prince of the power of the air”, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)  {made alive in Jesus Christ}
2:6 And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus:
2:7 That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in [his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:
2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Here is what God expects of us!  It is precisely expressed in the Ten Commandments.  “TEN SIMPLE “WORDS”  that give us a guide line for living our life.  It is the same TEN  WORDS or Commandments that governs the entire universe.  Exodus 20:3-17

20:1 And God spake all these words, saying,
20:2 I [am] the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth:
20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me;
20:6 And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
20:10 But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates:
20:11 For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
20:13 Thou shalt not kill.
20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
20:15 Thou shalt not steal.
20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour’s.

TEN WORDS or TEN COMMANDMENTS make up the whole principles of God’s love to the universe and to man and are the character of God and our Lord Jesus Christ.  The first (6 WORDS, i.e. Commandments) gives us the reference of how we are to relate to God, and the last (4 WORDS ,i.e. Commandments) gives us all we need to know how to relate to our fellow-man.

GOD wrote these “WORDS” with His own finger in stone and cut it out and gave it to Moses who had gone up onto the top of the mountain to see this “brilliant light” that was shining and where God showed only His backward parts to Moses because Moses would have been destroyed, if he had beheld the fullness of God in his human self.  So, in Love, God only allowed His backside to pass before Moses in this manner to protect Moses when Moses wanted to “see God”.   Now remember, God is in three Personalities:  God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.   There is only ONE GOD, but Three Personalities in the Godhead.

Now think on this!  Jesus wants us to be “one with Him”, just as Jesus told us to be One with Jesus, the Father and with the Holy Spirit.  In order to do that, we must allow Jesus to live out His life in us.  In other words, our own sinful self must die to self, in order for Christ Jesus to live out His life in us.  Each of us must come to this decision to say the Words that Jesus said, ” thy will be done” Matthew 26: 42    He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.   {This verse refers to the time that Jesus was in the garden of Gethsemane praying, just before the soldiers come to  take HIM away, to be tried, condemned, and executed on a cruel Roman Cross for US, not for  HIMSELF but,  us -poor, sinful, disobedient, not trusting selfish humans, proud, vengeful, careless of others, and eager to speak against our brothers and sisters of the human society.

Now, let’s see what Jesus said about Himself and how we are to find our way-the way to life eternal with the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit in the book of John 14:1-17

14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if [it were] not [so], I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also.
14:4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
14:5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
14:8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou [then], Show us the Father?
14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
14:11 Believe me that I [am] in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do [it].
14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. {Also see, 1 John 2:1-4}
14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
14:17 [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.  {The Holy Spirit also has the name of Comforter}

Finally, in conclusion for Today’s Thoughts for the Day,  God expects of me and you, and the whole world who wish to be saved and to enter into the heavenly realm of the Home of our Lord Jesus, to take the Lord Jesus ,as our personal Saviour, who died for your sins and mine, to accept the “blood sacrifice of Himself” through the Person of His Son.  We are to repent of our sins and to continue doing so, each day of our lives, because we are by nature sinful, now and before, since the garden of Eden and because of the sins of our disobedient original parents-Adam and Eve, and we will be making mistakes, errors and sins of various kinds, that in effect shows our selfish nature that ONLY the “acceptance of His Blood Sacrifice can cover as He intercedes for us before the heavenly throne of God, the Father in the Most Holy Place as our High Priest.

Then, we have a final promise of a “new heaven and a new earth” in Revelation 20:1-7 {after the judgment period in heaven for the wicked-both evil demon angels, Satan, and regretfully many humans who insist on living without benefit of God’s protection}  John the Revelator saw this vision from God:

21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, [and be] their God.
21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
